At mæt, we believe in the role of the fashion industry to create a positive impact. Our items are carefully curated and hand crafted in our in-house studio by local Albanian women. Mæt prides itself in its ethical practices and female representation and strives to spark a revolution in the Albanian work environment. RESPONSIBLE MANUFACTURING
Sustainable Sourcing & Production
Maet focuses on using sustainably sourced fabrics for our garments in order to reduce impact wherever possible. By using fabrics such as organic linen, certified silk, and regenerated wool, Mæt combats the negative effects of the apparel industry. We select fabrics based on durability and have set up design & production practices to minimize material waste. We hold ourselves accountable for building an eco-friendly environment for many generations to come.
Slow Fashion
Slow fashion is a facet of sustainable fashion and a concept describing the opposite of fast fashion, part of the “slow movement” advocating for clothing and apparel manufacturing in respect to people, the environment, and animals. As such, contrary to the industrial practices of fast fashion conglomerates, slow fashion involves local artisans and the use of eco-friendly materials, with the goal of preserving crafts and the environment which, ultimately, provides value to all, slow fashion brands, workers and consumers.
At Maet we have embraced Slow Fashion as the only way to produce garments without compromises.
never going out of fashion
Seasonless Fashion
Fashion has always had seasons. Initially it was 2 collections — for spring/summer and fall/winter — then it turned into 4 seasonal collections, and now with fast fashion new collections are on the floor every week. Embracing Slow Fashion means we have ditched the seasonal collection altogether and embraced the ‘transeasonal movement’ in order to let the creativity and storytelling of the designs influence collections instead of the pre-set of a multitude of seasons in the fashion calendar. We design a core selection of garments with occasionally added styles or offer existing styles in different fabrics/colors.
Creating a system
Maet supports new talent in Albania through the Albania Fashion Insititute . This support is given to both young people who approach this industry for the first time and professionals with experience. The training method, constantly updated, prepares technically competitive professional figures, specialized in recognizing the needs of the markets and sensitive to the ever-changing local and international fashion industry.
While creating our own sustainable brand we want also to empower the next generation of Albanian designers.
